JULIA KWAMYA

Julia Kwamya is a Brooklyn-based actor. Born in Baltimore to Ghanaian and Ugandan parents and raised between Sweden, California, and New York, she carries that in-betweenness into the work.

She is a member of Actors’ Equity and SAG-AFTRA eligible. She’s trained across a range of techniques and draws on whichever the role needs. Screen credits include Play This at My Funeral, The Audition, Jacob’s New Friend, and A Bad Date in Beacon. This fall she plays Aisha in a reading of Ghost of the Other 6 at Emerging Artists Theatre’s Spark Theatre Festival.

She is also a singer/songwriter, releasing through her own label, Volta Club Records. She calls the sound moody disco: American soul built on West African rhythm and East African melody. Her song “Cruel” appears in Paramount’s 80 for Brady, and her collaboration with Anoraak, “Shikata Ga Naï,” came out on Juliet Records in 2025.
